Thin-plate splines (3D in left lateral view) visualize the variation between landmark configurations of the vertebrae from the mean shape (zero point). As confirmed by the cluster analysis, the morphological analysis allowed discrimination of the vertebrae in three different subunits (indicated by color coding)
