Trabecular orientation. The main direction of trabecular anisotropy (MDT) is represented by vectors originating in the center of the femoral head and projected onto its proximal hemisphere. A femur, seen in proximal view, is depicted at lower right to illustrate the orientation (g.tr./l.tr., greater/lesser trochanter; f.h., femoral head). Data points close to the center are oriented more proximodistally. Colors indicate the lifestyle categories, circle size the degree of anisotropy (DA), ranging from 0.451 (smallest circle) to 0.883 (largest circle). The data show the results for left femora (right femora were mirrored)
